On September 22nd, we left Indianapolis for Frankfort, Kentucky where we camped at the Elkhorn Campground for two nights. This was our 21st State Capitol to visit. When we went to the capitol we had to take a self guided tour of the capitol. We’ve had to do that a few times and whenever we do Kevin is the guide while Kathleen helps Rachel with her notebook to take notes. We always use the self guided tour brochure they give you which usually tells most all you need to know. This was Grandma Celine’s first Capitol with us and she enjoyed it. She said Kevin was the best guide she’d had so far. While we liked the capitol enough it wasn’t one of the better ones. The grounds were beautiful around the capitol and all but The Senate and House Chambers were nothing to brag about. We also noticed how the people inside the capitol were not that friendly at all. After that we went and toured the Old State Capitol building and we thought that it had so much more character than the capitol building itself. Even though it normally costs to tour it a guide there, who heard what we were doing took us on a free tour. She was very good and this tour made the Frankfort stop much better. We recommend going to both building’s but be sure to at least go to the Old State House if you can only do one. On our second day in Frankfort, Grandma and Kathleen had a girl’s day out to get ready for the wedding, while Kevin stayed with the kids at the RV.
